What is this?
From whence came this bliss?
I have this great love,
For him sent from above.
But is it true?
Do I really love you?
Do I want you to be the best you can be,
Or do I just care what you have done for me?
I have so much joy when you’re around,
And deep, deep sadness when you’re nowhere to be found.
But is my love really for you,
Or do I just love the things for me you do?
Can I put aside my selfishness?
Do I find joy in your success?
If you left never to return,
For what would my heart yearn?
Would I merely want what you do for me,
Or would I want you here, and your face to see?
Do I really love you?
Yes, yes I really do.
The hugs I give you are in fact,
No small friendship act.
They aren’t like those I give to any other,
But they are my pure love for you as my brother.
So why was I so confused?
Why mine own emotions did I abuse?
This reflection has taught me this lesson:
I truly love you, and of my friendship, there will never be any question.
