Friendship's Struggling Road

Contributed by isrred on Monday, 22nd January 2007 @ 11:13:42 PM in AEST
Topic: FriendshipPoetry

I walked the shores of the Dead Sea,
Confused, sad, and lonely.
I sat down,
to the world unknown.

But I was found
Upon the ground
By a stranger passing by.
Who picked me up and carried me, though I know not why.

He carried me up Everest’s
Slopes, never stopping for his rest.
Reaching the top,
He finally stopped
And put me down
To rest upon the ground.

There he cared
For me, and nursed
Me back to health,
And taught me to love myself.

There we stayed
As we learned, grew, and played.
I was in his debt,
And my ability to repay exponentially inept.
But this stranger sent from above,
Turned my debt to love.

That love firmly planted,
Yet his care I took for granted.
I wandered away
Expecting him to stay.

Realizing my error,
I returned to our place there.
He was gone;
Nothing left save memories of what we’d done.

The hope I have for his return
Within me strongly burns.
If or when no-one’s heard,
But the memories are more than I deserve.

But while he’s gone,
And from this point on,
I’ll try to be
Someone’s stranger as he was for me.

wow I really enjoyed reading this.. this was very well worded.. see you needed a friend and they came to you in your time of need and helped you along.. some people come into our lives for a reason and a season and when their purpose has been fulfilled they leave.. this is a very inspiring piece
