The Hand That Was Dealt

Contributed by deadheadpoet on Sunday, 21st January 2007 @ 01:00:54 AM in AEST
Topic: anguished

Like a dirty wound
it festers
deep with in the being of me
It's a gnawing
that's growing
beyond it's capacity

The smile that you see
it isn't really me
Just a reflection from another
in a mirror
I bought for free

Who could glow
when the world
is drowning
in all the bile
ugliness and abuse
I cannot for one
sit down calmly
I shall not be obtuse

Strung so tight
in the web of life
Her vibrations
Tribulations
so easily felt

Don't understand how
or why
I feel like this
Twas the hand
that I was dealt

We fight wars
on drugs
We fight wars
destroying human beings
Bomb and scar
our earth
Im so tired of what I'm seeing

Littering the land
Choking up the air
I'm picking up your trash
I cannot leave it here

I'm sickened by the global warming
drowning in tears
Ice shelves are melting
been there thousands of years

Depressed
Anxious
Absorbing what she's felt
Close to Her
Fighting for Her
Twas the hand
that I was dealt

sis now this is deep and I soooooo feel you.
Yes it is a shame, there is such beauty that is being destroyed, how can we go on destroying the mother that cradles us?

Im with you Laura

Beautiful voice we shall all embrace, shout it from the roof tops, pass this beautiful poem all around. Give our mother back her crown!

I'm not advocating apathy, but in the final analysis, I believe MotherEarth will better be served by the vibrations of our love & care for her, than our vibrations of anger & despair against those who don't love & care for her as we do. If I sound somewhat preachy, it's not my intent at all. It's just that your write has made me think & when the mind is done, the heart takes over & this write left me w/ a lot of strong feelings...great job!!! Made me think, made me feel...excellent job!!

Dearest sister Laura you have penned an outstanding write that voices the concerns of your sweet & loving heart. I hear ya girl and it's so sad that many continue to use and abuse Mother Earth. They take her for granted they turn a blind eye when it comes to caring for her. Such sadness evokes my heart and a tears fill my eyes. The direction that Earth is heading nowdays I don't think we are gonna have it for very much longer.
An outstanding write. Thanks for sharing it with us my dear friend.
much love, hugs n prayers,
sue m

I really like this poem, I like the fact that you can write about how strongly you feel about this topic without seeming like you are shoving the idea down people'e throats or selling it.

Raising the stakes, holding, or folding choices we each face when it comes to what Al Gore (he called and said he loved your write) refers to as the single greatest threat to the next generation. The heart of this piece clearly belongs to the true Mother Nature.

Excellent

Peace
