So, here's an honest story
About a boy without a clue
At 9, he's but a child
Not knowing false from true
In time, he'll see the darkness
This world has in its veins
But now, he's but a child
Who smiles when it rains
At 12, he'll lose his father
To what is known as war
He'll ask his mother questions
In which, she'll just ignore
18, now finished high school
His mind seems fully grown
He signed up for the army
Full reasons, still unknown
He's sent to war at 20
He's frightened for his Mother
Regretting his decision
Dodging bullets, seeking cover
In the mud, he now lies face down
Still breathing, still afraid
How he hopes to just return home
But instead, he starts to fade
At 9, he's but a child
Not knowing false from true
With one last breath, he whispers
"Dear Mother, I need you"

Intense with perfect rhyme and heart put into it. An excellent job, though saddening. |

Excellent, a powerful write that left me in awe. As in the depth of having watched Saving Private Ryan the first time while remembering key points in my own life.
Bravo
Peace
