There’s an old man
On the corner
He’s been
Talking in his sleep
And he whispers
All his secrets
Hoping
In the dark they keep
Quiet now
Listen how
Every sound
Said aloud
Carries through this night
Hear her name
See his pain
It’s a shame
Dreams remain
After all this time
Buried Alive
I have seen him
In the city
Walking
Aimless through these streets
Searching faces
Of each stranger
Like he’s
Wanting one to lead
Him to her
Tell me sir
Have you heard
Every word
Story of his life
Gone one day
Blue to grey
Love betrayed
And he stayed
Slowly losing sight
Buried Alive
Just an empty
Shell of a man
Broken
Hearted lonely soul
He’s a victim
Of another
He had
Given all control
Quiet now
Listen how
Every sound
Said aloud
Carries through this night
Hear her name
See his pain
It’s a shame
Dreams remain
After all this time
Watch him stir
Tell me sir
Have you heard
Every word
Story of his life
Gone one day
Blue to grey
Love betrayed
And he stayed
Slowly losing sight
Buried Alive
Buried alive
buried alive
Alive

OOoooo good stuff Naz. I would love to hear how this sounds. Reading it, I could feel the beat of this piece. In a way, it so reminded me of some of the homelessness I've seen, the hopelessness of situations, the scars on a life that have brought someone down, deep down.Really enjoyed the read....such sadness.
Peace, Laura

I was gonna' make this great comment about how this was so obviously fashioned to be a song & how you sould find someone to put it to music...& then, w/ my 2nd perusal, I noticed the topic matter was such as I wouldn't have been very original in my observation...teehee, anywho...it's late & this was great, right on!

Sweet, Naz, but isn't that the way with most song lyrics?
( just so long as it doesn't sound like that Bee Gees song.....).
And I think I've seen this bloke shuffling along the boulevard of broken dreams, poor buggar.

I get this as a metal rock song Aerosmith perhaps with Steven Tyler's screeching bellows. The fans in the dark with lighters held high. Theres strobes and explosions on stage and a huge beach ball over the audience which the crowd keeps at play.
Well Done
Peace

Hey Scott your work is always impressive, well penned and most enjoyable to read.
It kinda reminds me of Laura's homeless write~
Bravo, may your pen always flow so fluently with such brilliant work my friend.

Snazzy .. the fact that you posted this as song lyrics, does not
negate the fact that there is desperation in here .. a forlorn
tearing at the heart. A ripping of a soul, so in pain that it may
never again be whole. Wow, hun. What you just did to my insides
.. is.. just too hard to even begin to describe.
excruciating ~
Your writing ability is so clearly apparent here. Brilliance
beyond the telling, hun.

Deepest poem I've read thus far today... beautifully contemplative. Buried alive... this is one to take to heart.
Take care,
