Meaningless Words

Contributed by alison on Thursday, 18th January 2007 @ 02:14:40 PM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

My ears hear what I already know,
Noise resounding loudly all around,
The sound overwhelming,
Nothing, nonsense, all this I know,
Words, words, more words,
I understand without the words,
Words nothing new nor old,
Nothing left to learn,
Just spit back up on pages of tests,
Will the politicians, teachers, and preachers ever shut up?
Will they ever just live what they say?
I’m made sick by words, lies and truths,
Seeing the world still dying as no action is taken,
All they do is give more speeches, lies and truths,
Words without action are meaningless,
Shall we be covered by words alone?
As people are suffering and perishing?
Or shall we live by what we say,
Live out what we know,
Take action because we know the truth,
Throw out the lies and stop making excuses,
Today shall it be filled with more words?
Or shall it be filled with life?

Great job. I enjoyed reading this and I agree with you. Words without any actions are meaningless. And the last 2 sentences, I absolutely loved. When will this world really be filled with life?

This piece reminds me of an argument between toxic co-dependents where each is trying to gain a level playing field and some measure of respect. The burden of understanding is placed on the other and like tires in the mud... OK thats more the argument it reminds me of then your poem but wow good job for capturing so well aspects of such realities.

Well Done

Peace
