The Talk
I walked the path I often do,
On my way to seeing you.
Winter’s rain had played a part,
For the ground is muddy as I start.
Gone are the green, violet and blue,
Gone are the flowers that once grew.
Not deterred, I continue to walk,
Looking forward to our private talk.
Grey clouds block the light,
As my destination comes in site.
On the ground I plant my feet,
Bend over and take a seat.
I talk; you listen, better than most,
You’re always the perfect host.
I talk about work, I talk about life,
I talk about your grandson, and my wife.
I talk about mom and your home,
And all the children that closely roam.
And as the time quickly flies,
I dry the tears from my eyes.
I say goodbyes and try to brave,
Leaving your earthly grave.
Although my feet walk away,
My heart always tends to stay.

It is a very emotional poem; and I do every well understand the feeling behind those beautiful rhymes of words,
"But friend life goes on...with time the tears do dry away."
