Warrior Bard

Contributed by Nazmythian on Monday, 15th January 2007 @ 11:58:29 PM in AEST
Topic: dedicatedpoems

I saw this picture and thought instantly of Fionndruinne

this then, is for Andrew

Warrior Bard

Protector of the kingdoms
well renowned throughout the realm
with wisdom of the ages
sheltered ‘neath his battle helm

Although he is a warrior
he has a poet’s soul
his tongue, as sharp as any sword
he masterfully controls

He stands for truth and honor
moves with careful measured stride
and knows the fiercest battles fought
are waged on the inside

For the creature we call conscience
is never satisfied
when in hindsight we perceive
that loss and gain collide

With every war he’s ever won
another then, was lost
as only when the fight is gone
does one realize the cost

His honor and his duty
seem to temper what he dreams
yet in truth, I offer
only he knows what they mean

Good sir, I'm honored!

What are warriors without brothers in the fight? Keep it up, friend.

Its true, with every fight, with every battle, there is a cost. Win, lose or draw, there is a cost. And that cost is always dire. Few, oh so few, of us stand as warriors defending our beliefs and protecting our charges. Very good work my good sir, it touches my very soul.

I love this poem, Scott. No one deserves it more than Andrew does. He's a great man.

Well done, my friend. You are also a great man.

*hugehugs to you both*
