The winds are whistling a hollowed tune
Tirelessly travelling past my quiet bedroom
Light has escaped and to dreams i should be
But here, still i lie, pretending you're here with me
Innocent in isolation, we'd simply just talk
An art long forgotten to a lot of the world
But instead of your words spoken with glee
I have a lonesome melody, heard only by me
Thanks for the company on such a restless night
If you could more than whistle i'd ask you by my side
To share a short shandy and sing out some rhymes
I warn you i'd talk of her time to time
But no, no you can't carry more than a song
Without words so no one can ever sing along
So i'll bid you good night with the softest kiss
And off now to slumberland, ah slumberland, where ignorance is bliss

Wow! What a beautiful write. I read this poem last night, and it has stuck with me. You convoyed your anguish and your loneliness so well in this poem. It made it very easy for the reader to have empathy for you, with out pity. This line, “So i'll bid you good night with the softest kiss,” I found extremely touching. Great job! |
