Prayer

Contributed by Cancer on Thursday, 20th February 2003 @ 12:40:00 PM in AEST
Topic: DarkPoetry

i say a prayer
everynight
don't beLIEve in god, though
but, that's alright
i pray for new darkness
i pray for tougher skin
i pray that i'll never
get hurt again
by an untrue woman
or back-stabbing friend
but above all
i pray for the end
guess i'm just too weak
to kill myself
and i can't depend
on anyone else
to break this cycle
of monotony
to end this life
of unerring agony
i pray for a tumor
or heartattack
i pray for a bullet
in the head or the back
i pray for blood loss
til i'm dead, cold, and blue
i pray that one day
i'll be taken from you
you could have done better
yet, you settled for me
in return, i bring you down
and it's ***** killing me
i half-heartedly pray
that you'll find someone new
cuz i'm not strong enough
to walk away from you
your kiss ended a coma
of fifteen long years
your love dried up the flood
of dead, lonely tears
and all i can do now
is watch you die
i'm killing you slowly
and i don't know why
i can't seem to stop
stealing your breath
edging you closer
to my old lover, Death
every attempt
results in the same
so far gone when you found me
guess i'm too dead to change
i love you too much
you're too good to be true
and i swear that i will find the courage
to die, and rescue you

so, now i lay me down in bed
i pray that, tomorrow, i will be dead
so that your angel wings may spread
and you can finally be free
so, god, if you are up there,
then please, PLEASE, kill me

This was really sad, a true confession of a sorrowed heart, try praying that God grant you peace and remember everyday is a given gift,
life goes by to fast and you are here for a reason

chillingly, eeriely, beautifully sad... i have to agree with Valerie... this poem is so intense, but that may be one of the reasons your wife loves you so much... blessings to you

Valerrie is right. Each day is a gift. Each day you choose the things you do. Choose to be different than your poem.

this is beautiful, and so sad...love is a beautiful thing, if you can't believe in anything else, believe in love...it's worth all of this pain...

no, she didn't write the poem, the poem is about how i feel towards and about her.
