The Hand Of Friendship

Twelve months ago you came to me - a stranger, more or less,
With worried mind and broken heart, a damsel in distress.
Though I'm no knight in armour bright, I felt it in my heart
To stretch the hand of friendship out, but wondered where to start.
So on that dark October day, I took my pen in hand
And wrote a letter which, I hoped, would help you understand
That I had been where you were then and suffered just like you,
So cheering words I tried to write, to help you make it through.
I felt so helpless and my contribution seemed so small,
Though seventy seven miles apart our letters bridged them all.
Then after four long winter months, when daylight wanes so fast,
You wrote to say you'd reached your goal - you'd made it home at last.
Your words re-echoed through my mind, like music soft and sweet,
For you and yours were one again, your world was now complete.
Now many months have passed since then, the summer's come and gone,
And I have found among my friends you are the special one.

I am speechless, there isn't a single line I can pick as a favorite because the poem is beautiful. So warm I almopst caught a tear or two. Nicely done once again.
