Why must we be the dutiful man?
Like ants of the day
We march, we pray
The phantom dream, We search
We search
But it isn't there
It isn't there.
Chores unto ourselves,
The sky is full of clouds
Watching; waiting for the falling...
of our purpose
Like dew drops from a perfect leaf
Or burden from a weary shoulder
The belief, the shuddering faith
Belies our contentedness, our woeful bliss
The night beckons, but we shy away
afraid of the darkness of our souls
But in the darkness there lies the shadow
Of the one who stands in front.
Not the one who leans, mindless of time
in bowler hats and revolution
glaring through the mirror of glazed eyes.
We sleep while we could be walking
But it isn't there
It isn't there.
The drones of day and the minds of night
both buzzing in ecstatic nothing...
The path beckons
Destruction waits and
The dutiful man sleeps.
It isn't

Part poem, part rant, and seemingly a deeply felt expression. The duty of responsibility is richly a part of many cultures. Some stronger than others as it continues to define character. Well you got me thinking with this one.
Good Job
Peace
