I don’t know what to do
When I’ve done it all before
I don’t know what to say
When they’re begging me for more
See breathing deep can help
But not ever quite enough
To help a mother cope
When her homes betrayed her trust
Now standing in the door
I hear her quiet prayer
From lips far too innocent
To now have so much to bear
And in this moment I wonder
If prayers make it up above
And if they find the gates
Will God listen to each one
But the truth is no one knows
So don’t pretend you do
You see blind faith can lead
Just so many fools
Turns out I know nothing
That I thought I knew before
Turns out life is darker
Than the lives I knew here were
