Break Away

Contributed by The_View on Friday, 5th January 2007 @ 06:09:34 PM in AEST
Topic: oops

Clambering around in the dark of night
Crashing around feeling for a switch
But the light doesn’t show what I want to see
Left aside, stuck in this ditch and I can’t break away

Cool winter day with its cold winter breeze
I can see your breath, against fading light
Sliding around on ice our minds begin to freeze
Trying to get closer to you, that’s what feels right

You can lean on me if you think your gonna slip
Can’t be for sure, hard to stand with my hands bound
Not able to understand why our emotions are locked up in crypts
Searching for a key that can’t be found, hoping we can break away

Cool winter day with its cold winter breeze
I can see your breath, against fading light
Sliding around on ice our minds begin to freeze
Trying to get closer to you, that’s what feels right

One last chance, come what may
What if we fall, What if this ends
These are my questions, for you my friend
I don’t want to move on, I want to be more
Am I aiming too high, in this endless night
Where has it gone, this is all I got
Don’t let that familiar face, fade away into darkness

What can I do, if your not there
And I’m stuck staring into malevolent eyes
While I’m not able to break away

Cool winter day with its cold winter breeze
I can see your breath, against fading light
Sliding around on ice our minds begin to freeze
Trying to get closer to you, that’s what feels right

An emotive piece here; a wearing of the heart on the sleeve, if you will. I hope things work in your favour. Thanks for posting, and keep up the writes!

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
