Catharsis

Contributed by SilverDagger on Friday, 5th January 2007 @ 07:53:00 AM in AEST
Topic: self-harmpoetry

Another desperate attempt
Nothing but my soul will bleed
Another trying day
To caution, I pay no heed.

Worn out and miserable,
My essence seems to burn
Every time you shout my name
In front of others, to spurn.

Old wounds are yet to heal
The new ones formed, raw
Your words, they add to the pain
Cutting through like a saw.

You think that hurting yourself
In turn, would make it better
What you’re doing is wrong, if you are
Trying to bind me in fetters.

Ultimately, you’ll just have to let go
Free from the chains, I’ll finally flow
Out into the night, where darkness beckons
In silent sympathy, where stars dimly glow.

well I am happy to see that the attempt failed. That is not a good choice. Secondly, this poem was nicely written.

A cleanse in blessings...may the light of this piece shine upon the darkness and ever burn bright to keep the despair at bay.

Peace

The title is (I hope), much more than a word here ..

I, (like Michelle) am happy that this was a "failed"
attempt .. I know not what to add, and would not be so
bold as to tell you things that you must already know
(seeing that you've stuck around)

What I can tell you is that this was an outstanding
composition, if only for the fact that following what must
have been a most difficult situation for you, you managed
to put your emotions to verse. And in a very poetic way.

Excellent post .. very well written.

~Breezy

I can see both sides of this debate, most people can't see why some would want to harm themselves, but like a mirage, both ways, I can a lot of the time, and can't sometimes, sometimes it comes and goes, sometimes it puts its feet up on the footrest that is my heart, mind, and soul. Whatever you decide, I hope that you find peace and happiness in your actions. I don't know what you've been through, as I don't know what other people such as yourself have gone through, but sometimes they just don't know how to fight the rough times anymore, or they just don't have the strength to wrestle with the pain, and sometimes they just don't know it gets any better, as they have never known a world that is kind to them. You just have to find some people to be around that make you happy, and do some things for yourself, to keep your mind off of other things, and find and bring out that inner strength, inner peace, and inner pride. Smile through the tears, bite back at the hurt that's biting you, and hopefully things get better.

Much love,
Ash

When pain exceeds resources for coping: that’s all it’s about. You are not a bad person, or crazy, or weak, or flawed, because you feel such despair. It doesn’t even have to mean that you really want to die; it only means that you have more pain than you can cope with right now. If I start piling weights on your shoulders, you will eventually collapse if I add enough weights; no matter how much you want to remain standing. Willpower has nothing to do with it. Of course you would cheer yourself up and will positive perspective.
There are many kinds of pain that may lead to such choices. Whether or not the pain is bearable may differ from person to person. What might be bearable to someone else, may not be bearable to you. The point at which the pain becomes unbearable depends on what kinds of coping resources you have. Individuals vary greatly in their capacity to withstand pain.

The healing pen provides 'Catharsis,' cleansing
and coping, please keep writing.

Peace
Yang
