Handsaw cicada
a chain link
with teeth grinding
in the shade,
another responds
links begin to pray,
on the hot blade of noon,
as legs rub
from cartilage
to cacophony,
the noise maker
in the dog days,
vibrates the trees,
a special sap circulates
every 17 years.
Born from the earth,
a capable resurrection,
symbol of immortality
as ancient cultures attest,
the singing wings
of two stiff membranes,
tymbals,
have a special muscle
attached to rapidly contract
then relax
up to 400 times per second
each click chants a rattle
of natures mettle.
Desire followed
to know
what was that?
Keywords:
loud insect
led to
a 'bug' research website
within minutes
there's the culprit to study
whose volume now controlled
each grind becomes
ground to ancient wonders.

I loved this I have come to love the sounds of my fair weather bug music in the summer here. Did this with detail, poetic talent and made it interesting all wrapped up into one.

Nature is so full of wonder...wonders, which you bring the depths of to the surface, for the reader to ponder. I loved it & would thank you again for provoking both my sensory perception & thoughts...
