Honey Would You Write Me a Poem? (Take A Little Give a Little Back)

Contributed by Franciswolf on Wednesday, 3rd January 2007 @ 09:56:25 PM in AEST
Topic: abstract

Picking up the window shreds with carefulness he empties them in the trash,
When c.d. stores catch on fire all genius turns to ash,
Killing time on rooftop ledges looking out to see
A lakeside overflowing, and a worn out symphony,
Take a little give a little back,

My friends all turned to potheads and my candles just don’t burn,
I’ll get off the plastic motorbike; put a coin in it’s your turn,
Mother Mary and sweet Joseph still all are a trudging through the sand,
Just so the seed within her self can be slaughtered in some sick forgotten land,
Take a little give a little back,

Presents under an emerald tree and a wrinkled frowning face,
Walks under a moonlit night are lost in a drunken erase,
People keep suspicions out in the open looking for ears for which to offend,
But I’ve got no energy feasible to stand up right and defend,
Take a little give a little back,

Teachers spread the message to rooms full of clogged up eardrums through tales,
It’s said if the student doesn’t outgrow the teacher, then the teacher fails
What’s the use in speaking up if you’ve got nothing to say?
Pesticide comes in gallons right into the horse’s hay,
Take a little give a little back,

Take a little,

I was sitting on a spring
Where the madmen strum and sing,
And the pigeons called me out
On the covers I’d pulled about,
Plugging up my ears instead of listening,

Not a word was said
They were all in my head,
Thought, “I could write this down”
“Or I could stick around”
“Or maybe just go on off to bed”,

Don’t send me off the burning cough
Don’t wrestle me with winks,
I can’t stand your ambition
For plugging up my sinks,

The fifties are over but I grease my hair back with a comb,
Honey would you write me a poem?

See you wrote him one,
That boy’s all done
He wears earplugs just to hear,
When footsteps come near,
Tell me what’s that there to won?

I’m the guy in the back
With the instrumental lack,
But you know I’m here for you
Or maybe, you never knew,
Cause of the way I act,

Don’t eat my gossip,
Don’t take sticky notes to heart,
I need you here to denounce fears
Not in some grocery cart,

You know I’d never stick my feet in ocean foam,
Honey would you write me a poem?

Give a little back,

Baby rocks on mother’s knee with a handcuff lock attached
Nursery rhymes are hummed out to the child as he’s latched
Ambers fall to meet my eyes they twinkle their devilish green
Things are looking on the bright side at least from what I’ve seen
Take a little give a little back,
