For years I cleansed the darkened depths of your wondering heart
Sheltered abandoned scars left unattended as you decided to depart
Watched you trudge amongst anguished pain and shadowed tears
Followed every path you strolled, soaked up every puddle that appeared.
For months I held you next to me as I silently watched you sleep
Wondering when you'd find yourself, if I'd be something you'd keep
Wiped away blinding cobwebs and shined all that had begun to rust
Pondering on who you once were, if you were able to trust.
For days I searched endlessly to find the soul you'd willing left behind
Waded amongst suicidal thoughts; banished emotions trapped within your mind
To finally stumble upon the one thing that lifted your hopes and esteem
Implanting myself within you I became the angel of your dreams.
