Conversation with a secret

So you're the secret?
Yes, I think so.
What brought you to life?
Fear.
Fear? Of what?
Fear of another secret.
How did you discover this other secret?
I didn't, actually.
So how do you know it exists?
I don't.
Then why do you fear it?
Because it might not exist.
What is it that you keep secret?
The fact that I exist.
What is the point of your existence then?
To keep the fear alive.
Which fear would that be?
The fear of the other secret.
But doesn't that make you immortal?
That depends.
Depends on what?
Whether the other secret also has a fear.
Fear?
Yes. Of my existence.
How will you find out?
I will know when I die.
Is that likely to happen soon?
Not unless the other secret dies too.
Can this be triggered somehow?
Yes. If I commit suicide.
Why would you kill yourself?
I wouldn't.
So how could you die?
My owner can cause my death.
Didn't that depend on the other secret?
Only if my owner hasn't lost hope.
What does your owner hope for?
That the other secrets owner also has hope.
But what would this hope be about?
About a dying secret.
Would that be you?
Not yet, I think, but I hope it will be, very soon.

I really like that. The title is brilliant in itself!
