You broke me down and I picked the pieces.
A mended heart now crumbling.
I exhibit the maturity, yet I'm treated like a child
Choked out of a life I deserve, I settle for mediocrity.
I am nothing more than a kid dressed in dreams.
I once was so naive in thinking you could care for meand create with me a place to call home.
Instead I'll run away, escape to my fate and call it home.
I don't need you as I once thought I did.
How could I have ever thought you cared?
You broke me down so I was left to pick up the pieces . . .
How could I buy into thinking that you were my guardian angel?
Your wings are as black as the crow perched on your shoulder.
You hugged me through tumultuous times.
You lied to me and hurt me.
I will not give in.
Your darkness envelopes, still my beaconof hope will not falter.
I've suddenly realized- YOU are the fallen.

Makes some sense. Whoever the "gaurdian angel" was or is, the person you're talking to doesn't sound like it's them. Keep looking, they're out there somewhere |

kyle, there is a lot of strength found in between these lines.
The realization that what you thought was nothing more than
a dream of something more, is painful to admit. But you have
really done it justice here. And now, you are armed with the
experience and strength of a heart's survival, to move forward ..
For what it's worth, I found this entirely moving. I think
it is the optimism and the conviction found in the last line.
Excellent post.
