That which is freely given
Is of purest gold
That which you must grasp for
Is hard to hold
Ask not for others love
Share yours openly
Those of worth will seek
Those not will flee
We can’t make others
Want to compliment or stay
But we can love ourselves
That is the only way
And those who are meant
To be a lover or a friend
They will see our worth
And stay with us till the end
Hold not resentment
For those you feel let you down
For your own expectations
Are what will make you the clown
Keep the golden ones
Who come into your life
Let the others go
Save yourself the strife
That which is freely given
Is of purest gold
That which you grasp for
Is not worth the hold

One of the best poems I've read on this site. Such great thoughts. I love the lines: "That which is freely given
Is of purest gold
That which you grasp for
Is not worth the hold"
