Only Hope
She flew from the roof, like the little bird she always wanted to be.
She warned him over and over again, like a siren that no one heard
She wanted to die, as much as most people want to live
She cut her skin, as many times as he was in her mind.
She longed for love, as much as a child in the dark longs for light.
She wanted to belong, just as much as everyone
She needed to be free
and she didn’t care how.
He found her on the ground, it was like a nightmare you wish you’d never had.
He checked her pulse, it was gone like the wind.
He hugger her tight, like she was meant for him.
He kissed her bloody forehead, like he meant it.
But he’s too late.
Her dreams can’t come true.
Her dreams of hope, like a child on Christmas morning
Her dreams of him , like a fairy tale that she hoped would come true.
Her dreams of holding his hand, for the security that she needed so badly
Her dreams of saying I love you, and him saying it back.
But that time has passed
She has said goodbye.
Her dreams have flown away,
and into another persons mind.
Don’t ignore them,
You’re there only hope.
