a little feeling

Contributed by laydeeluck on Wednesday, 27th December 2006 @ 08:28:44 PM in AEST
Topic: drugabuse

I felt the rain today
I took notice of the
leaves changing and i realized
enough for me that its a gift
that i feel,I see
and the beauty around me
sometimes still appears
if only for a moment
I grasp it and thank it
for changing my way
of thinking
instead of dwelling
I'm taking it in
I'm smelling,feeling,healing......
I met a man at a meeting
and he stood before me
with hope in his eyes
and he said he was a
grateful addict
A hard concept for me
for i dont feel free,
I feel shame,heart-felt pain.
but he told me that one day
my addiction would no longer be an
infliction........
but a gift
I just have to embrace, with grace
the strength
the empowerment
of knowing that
my strength is mine
and it will teach me
if i open my mind to it and
allow it to show
me brighter days
cleaner ways
And he said healing comes
from
dealing and
releasing the
guilt
the
pain
the
shame
For even though we feel alone
when we are free of addiction....
we have found our way home I

Crystalises some of the feelings of addiction perfectly.

Did you write anything else at your time in a treatment programme?

This is truly a good poem. Good to hear that you found your way back in this crazy world.

I am certain only those who have attended their share of meetings would truly be able to comprehend this. I don't know you, yet by these words ... I am proud of you. You sound as though you have come far already, and this is another BIG step.
