Palestinian Nursery Rhyme

Contributed by crazyn on Wednesday, 20th December 2006 @ 09:04:58 AM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

One two
I’m scared of the Jew

Three four
I’m locked behind the door

Four five
I wish mummy was alive

Five six
There is nothing I can fix

Six seven
When I die ill cry from heaven

Seven eight
When will I have food on a plate?

Eight nine
I am a little star that will always shine

Nine ten
They shot my hand even when I held a pen.

Wow...it doesn't work for me as nursery rhyme as parenting is universal love giving... i can see it as a grade school song sung by oppressed students... however it contaminates hope and values that have each relate to each without interjecting group identity. I would be the first to add the dividing line of religiious affiliation has created the horror, this 'rhyme' reflects. Rather then scientific or practical classification like language groupings of the Semite . "*In linguistics and ethnology, Semitic (from the Biblical "Shem", Hebrew: שם, translated as "name", Arabic: سام) was first used to refer to a language family of largely Middle Eastern origin, now called the Semitic languages. This family includes the ancient and modern forms of Amharic, Arabic, Aramaic, Akkadian, Ge'ez, Hebrew, Maltese, Tigrinya, among others."

*From Wikipedia "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Semitic"

Generally most nations come together under the banner of speech. I would not be the first to make the suggestion for a greater nation state in which Palestinian & Israeli would coexist in mutual rule...

In my humble opinion perhaps this piece can evoke a dialogue toward that end

Perhaps we can all agree that the value of being alive; of promoting life, is greater than continuing pain and death for pronounced, self-declared differences.

Peace
Yangdantien

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
