And Would I Know me...

Contributed by markymark on Monday, 29th July 2002 @ 09:53:56 AM in AEST
Topic: DarkPoetry

if i cried...who'd wipe my tears
who'd tell me its ok
who'd comfort me...be there for for me
and chase my fears away...

if i slept so safe and sound
awake to find i pray
though rested here... i live in fear
i'll lose it all one day...

if i laughed... who'd share the joke
would humour set me free
if i was dumb...and never spoke
would the last laugh be on me...

if i walked...would i have to go
so far away from what i know
what i know...is why i'd walk
if i could'nt speak
could i still talk...

if i heard... but listened not
only cared... for what i forgot
see no evil... hear no evil...speak no evil kind
no flies here on this junkie...aint he a wise oul monkey
for what he knew
he knew would blow his mind...

if i saw me... would i know myself
would i check my date... on a sell by shelf
if i can feel... like... its so unreal
i would throw in my cards for a better deal
i'm the joker... whats an Ace
welcome to this awful place...

if i find me... if at all
run amok to have a ball
knocked my door... and rang my bell
the devil found me
and showed me hell...

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
