The Simple Truth

Contributed by lonelyboy on Sunday, 17th December 2006 @ 07:56:23 AM in AEST
Topic: Suicide

Did you know that I loved you
Did I tell you enough
Do you regret the decision you made?
All alone in the dark
The last beat of your heart
I wonder were you ever afraid?
I pray you were never afraid.

Did you listen to voices
That were telling you lies
Or did the angels whisper into your ear?
Saying you’re not alone
God’s calling you home
Did you know that we needed you here?
Lord knows that we needed you here.

But my simple questions don’t matter at all
And the answers won’t stop the pain
The simple truth is you’re gone
And life carries on
Until the day that I see you again
I know that we’ll see you again

Did the weight of the world
Bear down on your soul
Did your sorrow cut deep to the bone?
And when you left us that night
Did you walk to the light
Or did Jesus come carry you home?
Please Jesus come carry him home.

But my simple questions don’t matter at all
And the answers won’t stop the pain
The simple truth is you’re gone
And life carries on
Until the day that I see you again
I know that we’ll see you again.

I do not know how to even begin to comment on the beauty of this poem. You have an immense talent, and it is very apparent in this poem. I look forward to reading the rest of your work on this site.

Definitely a powerful piece of your heart. I am so sorry for your loss. I know your brother feels your words. Excellent!
