We Call Eachother Friends?

Contributed by The_Unknown on Saturday, 16th December 2006 @ 01:32:11 AM in AEST
Topic: FriendshipPoetry

I pretend in you
Pretend you are my true friend
You only seem to care
When you're alone
With those strangers we know so well
Those strangers we call friends
As if I'm your back-up friend
When theres no one else to be there
For you
That's only when you care

Our so called friendship
Is blocked by stone cold ice
Aquantinces we shall be called
Just call upon me
When others leave you behind
When you need attention
When you need the constant spotlight

I know where I stand
On your list of aquantinces
So very few you have left
I know where I stand
I know where you keep me
I know how distant you want me
So very few are true, close, friends
For you

Oh my dear
Cold aquantince
We shall call eachother friends
For we only play make-believe
In this world of reality

Never shall we part
As cold aquantinces
We musn't alter this fictionated reality

So here we stand
Blocked by ice
Aquantinces we shall be called

In our fictionated reality
We call eachother friends

I enjoyed reading this one.

I know the feeling you've expressed in your poem well. It hurts when someone doesn't place as much value in a friendship as you do. When they seem to only see you as a "back-up friend" it can leave you feeling used. You did a nice job of conveying that in your poem.
