Last Census
an electoral vote
was added
alongside a zipcode
as that year marked
a record loss and gain
for the Human Accordian.
Diet tried it,
fasting elastic,
the hypoglycemic approach
a crash landing.
Atkins, Craig, Watchers
loss may occur
but returns with
a vengence named:
'and then some'
Cortisol pouch
equals a dumpy
pear shaped pot.
Lovemaking is
done with a system
of levers and pulleys.
Exercise is distance,
it's enough
to just get off the couch.
Bellow and wheeze
its not easy to
clean
this mountain
carcass
tubs are a squeeze
but one slides in so easy.
Press your fingers to this
concertina and play a dirge
everytime you see
a large person
be assured they hurt.
In a terrible way
pity makes it worse.
The barrel of 'will'
is still filled
but harder to to put to work
No stay of execution,
so plan to staple
or be invasive
surgeons smile broadly
while patience grows thin.

AJ~ Through this write you brought back the images of a dear friend of mine. She was a beautiful lady who was large in size. I remember how much pain and suffering she went through while she was over weight. She had tried every single diet, shake, pills etc you could think of. I remember going shopping with her once. She was wheeling her trolley along one of the aisles in our local supermarket, I happened to look at a couple walking past only to over hear them say, "Look at what the fat lady's got in her trolley. No wonder why she is fat" That absolutely broke my heart. She had over heard them too. She had tears in her eyes. I couldn't help myself but to dish out some of the rage that engulfed me then. I felt bad for her. People can be so cruel and judging.
She no longer has that problem anymore~ she had the lap band fitted and is loving her new zest for life~
As for your poem dearest AJ~ Thumbs up sweet guy. Another great poem to add to your marvelous collection. Keep up the awesome work~ well done.
much love from ur fan/friend,

Obesity is definitely an epidemic
in the United States. You’ve captured
the irony and plight of overweight victims
very well. This poem is composed
brilliantly. Outstanding write!
(P.s. I have hypoglycemia so those
commercials about the glycemic
factor made me laugh. I don’t
know about you, but I wouldn’t
want to pass out if I didn’t eat
every couple of hours if I could
avoid it.)

The larger the person The larger the soul.
Dyslexia leaves them half not whole.
Joy to abundance and appetite pleases
Who knows the least ? The one it displeases.
So many struggle to become a person of size.
Love travels to all who accept themselves. I have seen people who had such beautiful personalities turn into cruel and egotistical people by changing body types. Boo to that exchange.
As Melanie sings in her Animal Cracker song....some people think fatties are nice, so I'm gonna be a fatty for all of my life...this song is my theme song to dieting! |
