Watching You From Afar

Contributed by ericdn on Saturday, 9th December 2006 @ 07:09:39 AM in AEST
Topic: ambiguous

I see you sitting there, seemingly unaware
That you're not alone.
I hide in the shadows, fading into thin air,
Sitting still as stone.

Your eyes and your smile – they positively glow,
Radiating light.
But your beautiful radiance I can not know,
I'm hidden in night.

What makes you sad? What makes you happy? Please tell me,
I must discover.
Do you like beaches, or a bright rainbow to see?
You loved another.

I knew from the first time that we saw each other
That you weren't for me.
I hoped and dreamed and prayed that you'd be my lover.
It wasn't to be.

Sitting in the corner, all alone and frightened:
I felt like hiding.
Knowing you were there near me, my dark world brightened:
You found me smiling.

I saw you sitting there, watching you from afar.
You sat down with me.
I found my true happiness, brighter than a star.
No longer lonely.

We talked for hours, just you and I, together.
And how I loved you.
But like everything, it could not last forever.
Why must it be true?

We're no longer close, I'm watching you from afar.
Memories remain.
Thinking of those special days that time can not mar,
It eases the pain.

My love for you will always be pure and sincere
As the years go past.
For me, these memories will stay so close and dear,
They will always last.
