Memory Lane

I once walked down memory lane
a journey better off not taken
for the forgotten faces
blurred and ghastly
sang out mocking lullabies
and dreams long since damned
fluttered to earth like fallen angels
as blood tints the cheeks
and tears stain the face
the soul screams
screams for forgiveness
and regret
