Expressing
The emotions hiding
Chained up
Unbearable
Straining with the loose links
Trying to break free
Like a volcano
But being unable
Like jets of hot gas rising to the surface of pan of boiling water
And like the feeling
Pain
But inside
Hurt but
not by others
By no-one
And pushing ready to explode and cry and shout and weep
But keeping yourself hidden
And unseen
Is what you do
Trying to strengthen those chains
Waiting for hell
To break Loose
And
Tension that builds with every laying of a hand upon your shoulder
Like fire
Burning in Death
As it awaits
Unshowing
Unseen
Unstable
But waiting, waiting for one of those chain to snap

I love this poem John. I seems to build then explode in each of those long lines. As though the poem is building up emotion then releasing it quickly. The structure mirrors its meaning.
Well Done |
