He's a big daddy
Big in heart, big in body, big in mind
He's a scientist, a teacher
A jack of all trades
Tolerant to a fault
He built my brother a train set from scratch
He built my sister a doll house from scratch
He finished our basement by himself
I remember a family vacation when we went sailing
Having grown up in New York City
I don't know how he knew how to sail
But he did
He was not perfect
What was good was very good
And what was bad..well nobody is perfect
When having a conversation with him
You get that "short and sweet" feeling
At least on the phone
I will remember his burping and farting at the dinner table
I remember the sound of his farts
How funny I thought they were
And how "matter of factly" he thought they were
I remember some sort of reaction
Maybe from eating too fast..where he had to suck in a breath
Then he would talk like an elf for a minute, til it normalized
I thought this was funny, but he never noticed
There was a man behind the man
But I suppose thats true of every father
I need to share something inspirational with him
Else the lonliness will kill me
Why do good men grow old?
Draw a circle

As the subject of this Ode, I recognize myself, although it differs in some rspects from my own self-image. I like the poem. It brings to mind the poem of Robert Burns:
O wad the Pow'r the giftie gie us
To see oursels as ithers see us!
It wad frae mony a blunder free us,
And foolish notion.
--Robert Burns
--To a Louse

I enjoyed reading the poem. Is this supposed to be factual?

You know what? I really dug the honesty in this write. You wrote it like we were sitting together chatting about your Father. Magnificient feeling.....made me feel so close.
The ending was fantastic.

Draw a circle"
Thanks for sharing.
Peace and hugs,
