Here is a story of things that burn slow
Charcoal is one if my learning is right
Coal, coke and bitumen can smoulder all night
In fact carbonised fuels are all that I know.
I guess that a candle or, more rightly, its wick
Will keep a flame blazing for one day or more
But now that I’ve pondered I can’t say I’m sure
If it is the vapours of wax burning quick.
The thought has just struck me, I realise at last
I should write a poem on things that burn fast.
