I Let You Go

Contributed by stellar on Tuesday, 28th November 2006 @ 08:27:39 PM in AEST
Topic: goodbyepoetry

I've reasoned with my heart
And cried myself to sleep
I've made excuses
To keep you close

I refused to accept
That I'm now alone
And that you've moved on
Without me

I've prayed for signs
Ignored the ones before me
I've been stubborn
Though I've always known the truth

That you aren't for me
And I'm not for you
And someone else
Will make us happy

It's taken awhile
But I've needed this time
To open my eyes
To what I've already known

And I've done it all
For me to learn
That I've finally
Let you go

great write! I like how you come full circle from the begining to the end of the poem...from denial to acceptance

not sure if thats what you were trying to do but thats what I got out of it

... If you loved someone you should do your best to never let them go... I know exactly what this poem says.. but letting go is alot more painful then this poem makes it seem... It's a great write but I think it's just missing that pain that comes with letting a loved one go.

Eternally Punished,
Faust
