Sweet Katie Lynn

Contributed by Valerie_Pearson on Tuesday, 18th February 2003 @ 07:30:00 AM in AEST
Topic: SadPoetry

Sweet Katie Lynn, born into battle,
how you must fight,
the Lord of the needle bruised you,
before you made it here,
your small tiny body shakes as I feed you,
you vomit the very milk of an empty mother,
how can I save you, my sweet Katie Lynn,
from this drug induced pain,
you should of never seen .....,
~~~
Your little blue eyes,
glare as cystal's lost inside infancy,
I feel every tremble, as I rock you,
and cradle you in my arms,
each cry is a deafening scream,
I wonder if you will survive,
you are so beautiful,
my eyes are fixed on you,
tranced .....,
~~~
I try so hard to help you fight,
the Lord of the needle,
which never should of been,
sending you into detox,
your mother cannot be found,
the nightlit roads,
again, she walks,
searching for her friend "Heroin"
~~~
Your small body trembles in my hands,
suffering the pain of addiction,
undo terror runs up your spine,
your soul looks through
as your helpless tender body shivers,
~~~
Finally falling asleep in my arms,
I hold you for hours,
cradling you,
I can't set you down,
I know the addiction will wake you again,
disturbing the pond of lullaby land .....,
~~~
Sweet Katie Lynn,
fair ivory skin, and sunlit hair,
you are so beautiful,
gentle, sweet, and new,
straight from heaven,
born into battle,
the womb of a slayer .....,
~~~
The roads are searched,
for the one who bear you,
within the night, she treads,
looking for a new fix ....,
~~~
Rest, my sweet child,
rest,
my Sweet Katie Lynn!
Valerie~
You are truly an inspirational and loving woman/mother... I am awed by the trials of your life (from your yesteryears, to your precious child, to this precious one you cared for)... Your poems make me realize just how fortunate we truly are... And the ability to express that so beautifully and show the world anther view is truly amazing...
Truly an awesome and heartfelt poem. I and my wife,
Kathie Lynn, are at this very moment dealing with an
addicted young person and the heart break is almost overwhelming. I really appreciate this write.
Love,
Rob
This rips me apart and brings tears. I know how it must have felt to you. I don't know that I could ever have laid her down or let her go. My dear friend, you have the heart and strength of a lion. Thank God you do for I know you have touched many.
Love and hugs,
Rita
