Free the Roses

Contributed by sunflower on Tuesday, 18th February 2003 @ 05:30:00 AM in AEST
Topic: LovePoetry

free the roses,
whores for love,
kept women on shelves,
sitting pretty in pink,
good little girls,
bleached and tanned,
waist corseted,
feet bound,
mouths gagged,
madonna/whore,
fashion's flavor of the day,

free the roses,
beauty comes with pain,
bloom and fall,
open and close,
prized youth,
faded petals thrown
to the whims of the wind,
freedom's ride becomes
an openended path,

free the roses,
scarlet, ruby, crisom
reds sit in vases, by the dozen,
hollow "i love yous"
apologies and compromises
makeup prizes,
the complacency of formalities,

be real for me,
lover,
kick off your shoes,
in wildflower fields,
get muddy, dig deep,
come up dirty, scrap your knees,
go the distance,
walk the miles,
be real for me,
pick the odd one,
the strange, the wacky weed,
in the field,
i am wicked,
i am ugly,
show me you've found me,
despite my cover of thorns,
let me be beautiful
in your seeing eyes
