Do or Die

Topic: Lifepoems

Do or Die

Born in poverty
Never given a chance
Dreamt of being famous
Put the world in a trance
Stepped on and pushed around
Driving his self-esteem into the ground
Brought himself up, only to fall
His life held up, pressed against a wall
Like a bird without wings to fly
Do or Die

Hopes and desires taken away
Flew out the window in half a day
Watched them fly out
Tears dampened his eyes
The silence of the night was filled with his cries
Flowing and flowing for days and days after
Depressing thoughts constant, little or no laughter
His brief smiles part of a big lie
Do or Die

Laying in bed, looking at the ceiling
No emotion can express what he's feeling
His sorrow stopped the flowing of blood
His body lay lifeless, face in the mud
Life has been wasted
Defeat has been tasted
Identity erased
Still for some reason, he thinks he's alive
Even though his reasons are in a nose dive
Success was doubted
Visions were clouded
Motivation from critics saves him from his demise
Proving them wrong is his ultimate prize
So he pushes on with a gleam in his eye
Do or Die
