Open your eyes child, it’s a brand new day,
Got things to do, and places to go,
People to meet, and opportunities to take,
Yes you’re doing something, but what do you have to show?
A single speck of humanity, marking your place,
At the end of the day, when it’s all said and done,
What’s left of anything, what do you still hold onto?
Do you ever ask yourself; what have you become?
Sometimes I learn nothing, and I feel it’s been a waste,
But then you come flooding, into my conscious mind,
And if nothing else matters, you still remain,
Cuz you are the one thing, that I’ll never leave behind.
And when it seems there’s nothing left to hold onto,
And nothing seems worth fighting for at all,
Skies turn darker shades, but you come along and brighten them,
For that I’m truly thankful, cuz you catch me when I fall.
And when angels can’t fly, God gives them strength,
Helps them find their path again, lends a loving hand,
Guides them back on track, and the sun shines again,
He’s given me the greatest gift, cuz you’re the most amazing man.
Sometimes I forget how much you really mean to me,
And I take you for granted, and it seems that I don’t care,
Forgive me my best friend, I never mean you harm,
But gentle reminders surface, for you I’ll always be there.
And sometimes we may argue, but from that we learn,
And the next time it happens, we’ll give it another try,
I value you and I treasure everything you are,
Slowly but surely our love is morphing into a beautiful butterfly.
Half way there now, six months is a long time,
Yet times fades away in the blink of our eyes,
And I’m looking forward to the future ahead,
It’s incredibly amazing I find; how the time flies.
As long as I have you by my side,
I know that anything is possible to do,
Hand in hand, take the world on as it comes,
Never doubt it when I tell you; I love you.
