The Devil and God
Such biblical figures
Do they exist?
I don’t know,
But I don’t rule it out
Is there a light
At the end of the tunnel?
Guess I’ll find out when my time comes
Will I become
Everything I want to be?
I doubt it, but I’ll do my best
There are so few things
That I wish to believe in
For my belief runs thin
After being torn and burned
So many times
And I’m scared to believe
Because it hurts
But I do not fear you
For you’ve never set me aflame,
You, my love, is where my belief lies
It lies behind your soulful eyes
In the sound of your melodious voice
In the unforgettable touch of your faultless body
The sweet taste of your soft lips
Yet most importantly
It lies within the beat
Of your innocent heart,
You’ve resurrected my belief
Breathed a whole new life into me
Opening my closed doors
Giving my first true conviction
The conviction to love you forever
