Fourteen Days

It’s been so long since we talked last,
Fourteen days through silence have passed.
Betrayal number one, and I still spoke,
The second one came and harsh words instead I wrote.
It was easy, tuning out my life,
Claiming internal anger as my right.
You reached out a hand to “help,”
But it was too late, too alone I felt.
Too quickly I lose control,
That I well know.
I yelled things I meant,
Because my patience is long spent.
I am neither seasonal daughter nor friend,
When threatened, every relationship I will end.
Retreat inside; you can’t get me there,
But even the voice inside my head isn’t fair.
Fourteen days of quietness passed,
I once clung onto hope that this stalemate would last.
But now I walk into your room and sit down,
Giving you one last chance to come around.

well written. i enjoyed this. sadly so many ppl can probably relate to this topic, this feeling. We always try to give more chances, even after we're hit the hardest....almost as if we like being hurt....but if we knew the end of each chance we gave, we would miss the few good things that come before that end.....anyway..nicely done. |
