My World Of Darkness

Contributed by Supered on Friday, 17th November 2006 @ 03:18:36 PM in AEST
Topic: PetPoems

I woke up one morning, could not see the light,
It seems that my world's become permanent night,
I search for my bowl which, at last, I did find
It's such a strange place this world they call blind

My human friends all feel sorry for me,
I can still hear and smell even though I can't see
It's hard to adjust and I've got a sore head
From bumping around, yet at least I'm not dead.

I've plenty more years to spend on this earth
And I'm going to live life for all that I'm worth.
The vet said there wasn't a thing he could do
But I'll be alright living here with you two.

I know you'll look after me best that you can
And I will be loyal, I'm your biggest fan.
They say it's a dog's life and maybe it is
But it is a life that I wouldn't miss

And when I am gone to my kennel in the sky
Think of the good times we shared, you and I,
And always remember we've always been friends
And the love that we shared, you know, never ends.

I cant believe I have missed these. This hit me where it hurts. A poem so beautiful it brought tears to my eyes. Yes our beloved dogs. I had one that lost her sight too . Struck a cord in me with this one you did.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
