An affair ends
I walked to town wanted to send
you a posy of flowers, it was late
afternoon in June and the florist
had closed. The fuzz wouldn't let
me pick roses in the park. Had two
drinks in a bar, both for you since
I don't drink anymore. Wrote you
a card but left it behind in a house
of ill repute. Didn't have any money
left for a stamp. Now it decorates
a wall in a sad room where lust and
loathing dance to the tune of despair.
…And thus my love for you ended.
