I heard the willows whisper to me
near the banks they swayed they swayed.
Stars alone dotting the sky
pleasure for a simply man such as I.
I remember the smell of perfume.
I faintly can smell it now, searching the memory.
The song of the river still near.
Flowing in tune with a memory, the dream is forever mine.

Cool poem. With your simple language, short lines and general choice of words and tone you have successfully established a dreamy, lost in the past but forever here, ambient water, night time feel to this poem. I am always trying to write about my favourite river (ex canal) river Lea but everything I do write comes out like a cliche so am envious of this.. |
