Christmas Memories
~
On a cold winter’s night,
When there’s not a lot to do.
I’ll be up in the attic,
Shifting through photographs of you.
~
Hot coffee in hand,
Sitting crossed legged on the floor.
Sorting through photo boxes,
Closest to the door.
~
Christmas' from years ago,
Stir up old memories.
Of a freckled little boy,
Posing by the tree.
~
A tear rolls down my cheek,
As each year comes to mind.
And the loved-ones who passed through,
With the acceleration of time.
~
There is a creaking on the step,
And I turn my head to see.
This beautiful little boy,
Staring up at me.
~
“Are you coming down daddy”,
“In a minute” my precious son.
New memories will be made,
Before the day is done.
