BUT WHERE'S THE FUN IN THAT?

I could paint a picture of our black napping cat.
But ....I'm out of black,.. I could use green
but then.......where's the fun in that.
I'd like to plant a flower but I cannot find my hat.
I suppose I could just stay in the shade,
but then.........where's the fun in that.
I could build a bird house or, one even for a bat
But then I'd have to keep old puss inside,
but then..............where's the fun in that.
I could make a pot o' tea and with a neighbor chat
But, she say "no a speak a hinglish",
but then...........where's the fun in that
I could awake old Rover by giving him a pat
He'd snuffle and roll over
but then..........where's the fun in that.
I could turn on the telly and look at this or that.
They're mostly 20 year old reruns..,
but then.........where's the fun in that
I could make a cold pork sandwich, cutting off all the fat
I could use lite bread and low fat margarine,
but then.........where's the fun in that.
I could do some jolly jump ups on my exercise mat
that would pass the time away,
but then.......... where's the fun in that.
I could sit to write a letter to my dear old friend Nat,
to tell him I'm bored and at a loss
but then.........where's the fun in that.
I could write a droll poem about this or that,
but I'd have to think of some dumb subject,
but then......... where's the fun in that
Sitting here with chocolates I'm really getting fat
I could be eating celery,
but then........where's the fun in that.
Thought I had a book to read, laid here where I'd sat.
The print is small I'd have to squint
but then...........where's the fun in that.
I'll just simply eat my chocolate, I'm very good at that
I'll squish the tops of soft ones
For...............there's lots of fun in that!

Ah, yes... at any given moment there are a myriad of things I could (even should) do. But, given the choice --- hell yeah, I'd rather write a poem!
This one generate a smile --- not a bad way to start the day!

| this poem was pretty good all the way to the end where the last couple lines brought a smile and made want to do that, thanks for the laugh |
