patiently pacing from pretentious provocation

that thing,
love,
is perhaps the greatest mystery,
there ever will be.
I don't pretend to know it
because I'm too transparent.
close to invisible.
but everyone else pretends
at least until play time is over.
sadly, I sit to the side reading
watching the idiot village.
happy smiles break from my lips
because I know some things others don't.
I feel like I could out wait God
my soul is whole.
just disregard my eyes.
there,
secrets are layed out
like they're for sale
don't make me betray
the heart that beats beneath.
it feels shy and soft and
disgustingly weak.
leave me be to sit and read
and surprise me only occasionally
because that thing,
love,
is way too much for someone like me.
