The true extent of my vulnerability
can be defined in as few as three letters
inadvertently employed, embedded in casual conversion
and set before me without knowledge, even,
of their effect.
Yes,
I am that sensitive now.
I unravel these days with a fair amount
of frequency and do so fervently, for you
so often becoming distraught by even the smallest of things
and routinely suffering for knowing that
you may too.
Oh,
but, I want it this way.
Truly, it is not fear that scares me
nor helplessness, nor the immeasurable pain
these are merely the residual effects of having fallen
and that, presuming I could,
I’d never change.
So,
I am done pretending.
You can hurt me without even trying
and if ever you should try, I’d come unglued
I am truly and entirely subject to your every intention
I am, undeniably,
now your fool.
Love,
I am weaker than you.
But I am faithful and I am fearless
in this abundant weakness, I am strong
I remain steadfast and commited for knowing that
this is precisely
where I belong.
Faith
is not a temporary thing.
For I stand ready and I am able
there isn’t anything that I wouldn’t bear
and that this is only the beginning of what is to come
I am ever so
painfully aware.
Still,
I have wished it this way.
My every tear will have its reason
my every heartache will be endured in your name
but I’ll embrace the pain as I do the profound joy that comes
of suffering a love that
will never change.
And I do so love you, darling
So,
this sensitive I shall remain.

There is a flow to this, a gentle caress much like a maiden's touch, one which seeks to bind one to both the pleasure and the pain. I am at a loss to transcribe its actual effect but I do find it pleasing. A gentle lullaby that doth tugs at the soul as it tingles the heart. A fool? mayhaps but perhaps one who has stumbled upon the greatest of truths. Love is that, something which binds one to the stupidities but opens one to the honesty of the heart, quite like your depiction herein. |

A very interesting place for anyone to write from. The fool is the most romantic of characters, subjects, and treatments in all of literature. Most likely, this is true because we are all within the grasp of the fool's very nature.
A wonderful exposition with a brilliance I have always expected from you. Your talent has not let up a bit. Wonderful and passionate. Honest and pure. This is the total poem. |

Yes, Snembo, better to feel stinging winds then draw the shutters too tight and stifle the senses. The vibrant and anarchic sensitivity does settle into a more fluid reaction over time though, but enjoy the journey - its liberating.

This is a superb piece. That faith and fearlessness is a beautiful thing ,but it can leave you so vulnerable.
Brings to mind the song ,The Rose.
"It's the heart afraid of breaking
That never learns to dance"
I guess you've learned to dance Snemmy,

Oh my word .. I thought for SURE I had commented on this hun.
But having come here, once more to read the incredible vulnerabilities
of you .. I find I am mistaken.
(for the first time in my life! haha :P)
That last line .. oh god, hun. How I DO relate to that one most intimately!!
I felt you in every syllable .. every word .. every line .
.. in every suffering .. every heartahce .. each and EVERY emotion that it
pulled forth and shaped into being ..
this .. THIS is incredibly moving. Mostly to those who've suffered the
same. Still, it has an enormity to it that the masses can relate to and
understand. Just brilliant, hun. And I do mean brilliant. Bravo to you
for being able to extract what I seemingly cannot. You have inspired
me once again. Love is most powerful!!
*hugs and love you, you wonderful and most amazing friend!*

True intimacy requires a degree of transparency that leaves us vulnerable, which we are willing to risk in order to find a truely commited loving relationship. Faith and devotion will help love endure. It may never change that we love one another, yet it will most likely change regarding how we love one another...and that is good for change is inevitable.
Great write, Snem

There is a terrible release in completely giving oneself over to something. The journey is so long...so full of potholes...so rife with insurmountable molehills. Only when one has traversed such terrain can one look back with any clarity and mutter..."oh, so that's why."
I was attracted to this because of the word "faith." That and the fact that it was written by the incomparable Snemmy. (Isn't it time to have dinner again?) What I discovered is that "faith" has such diverse connotations and that these are dictated by one's connection to the word and its meaning at this particular time in life. When I consider this in reflection of my latest, I see so many similarities.... We have walked similar paths, my friend. Our footsteps parallel, converge, divert...and this would be true whether or not we had ever met. Goodness, I didn't come here today planning to write all this. Larry and Phil are contemplating the heavens...Lost is slowly saying "goodbye," Naz playing with words, and you...are churning through a chapter of extreme depth of feeling...or maybe you already have. The enigmas of this earth are so fleeting...but when submersed in them feel enduring rather than ephemeral. You capture a moment lasting a lifetime in this. So glad I stopped by.
Love,
Stitch |
