One Nation

Contributed by olhip on Monday, 17th February 2003 @ 10:00:00 AM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

A cold and wet winters night falls on anywhere U.S.A.
Is anyone listening as the homeless sadly shiver and pray.
There's no pity on dark city streets for a lost forgotten life.
As chilling winds cut through a heart, like a jagged knife.

Countless eyes pass by in the night blind to seeing whats there.
Ears fall deaf to the screams, don't hear don't see don't care.
Life feels like an endless freeway a journey without an end.
Winter nights can make death, feel like your only friend.

Is anyone listening to the cries of societies taboo class?
Or do we simply look away believing time shall make it pass?
Can anyone hear the voices in the wind, they could be you and me.
For what good is life cold and alone, what good is being free?

Shall one nation under God simply call it's own a disgrace?
Shall it turn its back on them or give them an equal place?
Is anyone listening to the wind is this how God would want it to be?
Or has society forgotten his word? The answers in you and me.
. . .
