An hour of peace

Topic: oops

Sitting in a café healing my worn out mind,
Approach me not I sit alone for a reason.
Grant me this one hour out of twenty-four to reflect
In peace, mentally overexerted and physically fatigued,
Ah on my own at last! I yearn to be healed.

Rush past me world I'm going to sit this hour out.
To much dismay I discover that pretending to be invisible
Isn't as good as the real thing as a familiar face accompanied
with a cheesy grin approaches me. Yeah that's right keep on walking
familiar face! I lack the desire to exchange forced pleasantries and
pretend I care, for I am visiting my good friend solitude.

Slipping into daydream mode for my daily dose of fantasy,
For without fantasy how can anyone talk their sanity out of
Escaping this chaotic crazy house we call 'the real world'?
I think I'll go for the usual company, me and the girl of my daydreams.
Now for the scenario, two lovers, a beautiful sunset beach? No
A castle, I the knight she the damsel in distress? No

It doesn't matter where we are as long as girl of my
Daydreams is in my arms and whispering those three words
All lovers long to hear from each other into my ear. I suddenly become
Conscious that I am mouthing those three words, hypnotised by my own
Current long distance relationship with reality I briefly believed for
A moment that she was real. This trail of thought is
Depressing fantasying about who I haven't got and who I would
Give every thing up for to have.

I think I'll stick to something lighter such as fighting alongside
Lawrence of Arabia against the Turks in 1915 catch me if you can my
Camels faster than yours! Or even how funny it would be to
Tell various cretins I'm unfortunate enough to know exactly what
I think of them, ha ha ha!

Coffees getting cold… I snap out of it! Gosh is that
The time already? Ah I feel so refreshed! Oh well time
To dive off the cliff of solitude and hit the ground running
In 'the real world'.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
