bonfire night: and the dreams of the idle

Aflame, a night like any other,
Blackness and illumination
Music and illusion
Cross paths
For one night of terror.
I could see my breath
Frozen in time with droplets of ice
Boom
A splash of light poured upon the field
Idiots on a blind rage.
I hear a mother scream
Children cry
Tears produced by human error
And then, an innocent girl
Alone and terrified
What could I do…?
My heart
Was actually broken that night
The faith of our community
The love I believed in
Gone,
Only to exist in the dreams of the idle

Stirred a deep feeling within while reading this. Nicely done. At times there is just nothing you can do always remember that.
